How Much Should You Wash Your Face?

You need to wash your face every morning and night. No exceptions. I don’t recommend using washcloths to wash your face if you have acne. Washcloths are too abrasive and can irritate your acne making it worse. Also, if you don’t use bleach in your laundry your washcloths can recontaminate your skin with bacteria that may have not been killed with regular washing. I recommend using clean hands or cotton pads you can buy at your local grocery store. These cotton pads are disposable, inexpensive and work great.

Correct Techniques For Face Washing?

1. Wash your hands with an anti-bactierial soap. Leave a small amount of water on your hands.

2. Use a dime size amount of your acne face wash and with your fingers lightly rub on the wash. Use a circular motion, but make sure not to press too hard or massage too long. Facial massage actually stimulates your sebaceous glands making your skin more oily.

3. Rinse your face with tepid water. Extremely hot or cold water can break down the walls of your follicles making it harder for your acne to heal. After I rinse my face I like to use a dampened cotton pad and rub it over my face to make sure I got all of the wash off completely off.

4. Follow with an alcohol free toner, an acne spot treatment, and an oil free moisturizer.Your acne face wash will exfoliate your skin making it easier for the products you put on after to penetrate into your skin. So, make sure your using high quality products that are oil-free.

Will Makeup Make Your Acne Worse?

Yes, makeup can certainly aggravate of acne. Avoid wearing it as often as possible. If you must wear it never use a sponge to apply your makeup. Makeup sponges are known for carrying bacteria. If you use makeup brushes I recommend thoroughly cleaning them with soap and water at least once a week.

What Will Aggravate Acne?

Pillowcase- I change my pillowcase every other day. I only sleep on one side once before washing it. Here is why, if you have acne and you lay on your pillowcase all night most likely there will be some bacteria on your pillowcase.

Cell Phone- Make sure you are cleaning your cell phone with rubbing alcohol often, daily if you can. Cell phones are covered with bacteria and often make acne worse.

Hair- If your not washing your hair often enough this will make your skin oilier and aggravate your acne. Also, certain shampoos and conditioners can cause breakouts. You can try switching brands to see if it helps.

Hands- The oils from your hands touching your face can make acne worse. Also, avoid picking, scratching, or squeezing your pimples. Doing so can cause scarring. Be especially careful not to pick pimples on your cheeks. Your cheeks tend to scar the easiest.

Can Vitamins and Minerals Help Acne?

Chromium aids in reducing infections of the skin. High quantities of sugar can cause loss of chromium from the body. Good sources of chromium are found in meat and whole grains.

Vitamin E is an antioxidant. It enhances healing and tissue repair. Vitamin E is found in many lotions and lipsticks. This vitamin also plays an important role in the immune system and can prevent cell damage. Vegetable oils, nuts, green leafy vegetables and fortified cereals are common food sources of Vitamin E.

Magnesium plays a major role in hormone balance. It can also help maintain muscle and nerve function. This mineral supports a healthy immune system and keeps bones strong. Green vegetables like spinach are good sources of magnesium.

Selenium is needed for skin elasticity and boosts the action of other antioxidants. It is only required in small amounts. Plant foods are the main source

Zinc aids in healing tissues and prevents scarring. It regulates the oil glands and promotes a healthy immune system. Zinc can be found naturally in oysters, red meat and poultry. There are also cereals and dairy products that have been fortified with zinc.

Chemical Ingredients VS Natural Ingredients…Which are Better?

Having worked for years in a Dermatology office you would think I would recommend prescription acne treatments that are aggressive and concentrated. But seeing the negative side effects of these harsh treatments I tend to lean more towards acne products that are more natural. I have seen and used many types of both natural and unnatural products in treating acne. The unnatural products tend to be harsher on the skin causing a lot of irritation and inflammation. This inflammation will not only make your acne worse, but it will also cause premature aging.

A harsh prescription acne treatment often will break down the protective layer of your skin called your barrier function. Your barrier function provides protection for the skin against invasion or injury. This protection is very important. If these inter-cellular lipids that make up your barrier function become compromised by harsh products this can result in dryness, dehydration, sensitivity, redness, and/or a tight stinging feeling. This is not good short term or long term for your skin.

Below is a skin diagram of the outer layers of your skin. The barrier functions is the “brick and mortar” using harsh chemicals like Benzoyl Peroxide and Salycilic Acid can strip this barrier (sometimes entirely) away. Leaving the sensitive layers below vulnerable to infection, allergens, and sun damage. This results in irritation, dehydration (lack of water), dryness (lack of oil), redness, sensitivity, and premature aging.

Also, acne often worsens when your barrier function becomes compromised. This is the reason that products like Proactiv and Murad often end up making your acne much worse. Enough said, I recommend acne face washes with natural ingredients.

A New Acne Treatment?

Like so many skin care products out there, Trifix Acne Clearing Lotion from Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare claims to represent a brand new form of acne treatment. We are reviewing Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare Trifix Acne Clearing Lotion in order to determine whether it really is something unique. Whether it is a new set of ingredients or a new form of application of a treatment, it is important to know whether a product brand is credible or not.

Who is Dr. Dennis Gross?

Dr. Dennis Gross has used his success in the fashion world to launch his own brand of skincare products called M. D. Skincare. His stated goal is to provide alternatives to mainstream products by using different ingredients than are found in a majority of skincare products. In doing so he risks developing new products that do not work as well as standard industry products, but he has the popularity of his brand and his name to rely on. So, has he developed something really new and superior to existing products on the market? At least with Trifix Acne Clearing Lotion, the answer is no.

What is Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare Trifix Acne Clearing Lotion?

Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare Trifix Acne Clearing Lotion is a topical acne cream that is meant to be applied twice a day – although there is a stated risk of dryness and skin irritation, in which case the user is advised to apply treatment only every other day. Trifix Acne Clearing Lotion contains ingredients that are meant to be substitutes for Benzoyl peroxide and Salicylic Acid, yet these new ingredients also have tendencies to cause unwanted side effects. White Willow Bark as a substitute for Salicylic Acid is an excellent ingredient and it is found in many of the best acne lotions we have reviewed. However, it is only included in a minute amount in Trifix Acne Clearing Lotion. In fact, Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare Trifix Acne Clearing Lotion is only composed of 20% active ingredients. That does not seem like a good plan to develop an effective product. So what is the other 80% made up of? According to the website, mostly purified water and denatured alcohol.

Is Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare Trifix Acne Clearing Lotion a Good Value?

At about $32 for a 1.7 oz. bottle of Trifix Acne Clearing Lotion, this is one of the most over-priced acne treatments we have seen. It contains only 20% active ingredients in the lotion and, of these, only a couple of them are clinically proven to be effective. It seems that Dr. Dennis Gross is relying on his name and the popularity of his brand to sell a mediocre product at too high a price. Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare Trifix Acne Clearing Lotion does not come with a satisfaction guarantee, which is of little surprise considering the contents of this product. We suggest you do not waste your time and money on this treatment to clear up your acne. If you want clear skin and a quality acne treatment, we suggest you look elsewhere and find a product that offers a money-back guarantee of some kind. There are too many lousy skin care products on the market to throw your money around blindly.

What is Kate Somerville Anti-Bac Clearing Lotion?

Kate Somerville Anti-Bac Clearing Lotion is a topical acne cream designed to eliminate acne-causing bacteria and help clear up your skin. It is meant to be applied to affected areas once in the morning and then once at night. Given that there are so many different causes of acne, it can be very tough to find the right treatment that will work for you specific skin condition. During puberty is the most common time for acne to show up and for many people it fades away with age. But, many adults are afflicted with acne as well and it can be even worse at an older age. Especially in today’s competitive world, bad skin can make it difficult to find a job or land a promotion. Your face is your window to the world and it is important to make sure people see you as a healthy individual who takes good care of themselves.

What is in Kate Somerville Anti-Bac Clearing Lotion?

The best way to estimate the effectiveness of an acne treatment product, other than by looking through customer reviews from people who have tried it, is by looking closely at the ingredient listing. The main active ingredient found in Kate Somerville Anti-Bac Clearing Lotion is Benzoyl peroxide at a 5% concentration. Benzoyl peroxide is one of the most common ingredients found in topical acne creams. This should seem like a comforting and encouraging fact, but the truth is that Benzoyl peroxide has a somewhat limited ability to treat acne and it tends to come with some unwanted side effects.

Benzoyl Peroxide vs. Natural Ingredients

For people with sensitive skin, Benzoyl peroxide use at concentrations of 3% or higher has great potential of leading to harmful side effects. Some of these side effects include:

Redness of the Skin

Irritation

Dryness

Itching

Burning

Increased Susceptibility to Sunburn

Bleaching of Clothing and Linens

Not only is there the above-stated risk of side effects, but the actual acne-fighting potential of Benzoyl peroxide is greatly overstated. It can actually only reduce acne by about 10-12% in most cases. If you have moderate or severe acne, this is a very insignificant reduction. The most interesting and effective acne treatment products to come out in the last couple years are utilizing natural ingredients as opposed to synthetics, such as Benzoyl peroxide and Salicylic Acid. One of the most promising ingredients of the organic variety is Tea Tree Oil. Tea Tree Oil has been proven to be mre effective in reducing acne breakouts than Benzoyl peroxide and it comes with no side effects whatsoever.

Kate Somerville Anti-Bac Clearing Lotion

This acne treatment product by Kate Somerville seems to be way over-priced for what it has to offer. At $36 for a 1.7 oz. tube, it is one of the most expensive acne treatments of its kind. We have reviewed much more impressive products that come at much lower prices. Look for products that come with a satisfaction guarantee and protect your investment in achieving clear skin.

Treating Acne

If you are one of the millions of people who suffer from constant acne breakouts, you are probably trying to find the best, most affordable treatment possible to help clear up your skin. Unfortunately, the widespread demand for quality acne treatments has led to the development of many mediocre treatment products flooding the market and making it difficult for you to find a truly effective one. Many products look or sound like they would work wonders on your skin, but cannot actually come through for you. That is one reason we decided to take a closer look at DDF Benzoyl Peroxide 5% Gel With Tea Tree Oil. It sounds like a product with strong potential but we wanted to know its actual acne-fighting ability and its value relative to similar products that are available.

What is DDF Benzoyl Peroxide 5% Gel With Tea Tree Oil?

DDF Benzoyl Peroxide 5% Gel With Tea Tree Oil is a topical acne cream that is designed to treat areas of skin affected by blemishes (whiteheads and blackheads). The combination of Benzoyl peroxide and Tea Tree Oil seems like it would be extra effective, since most products use only one of the two ingredients. However, it is not that simple, and the actual effectiveness of Tea Tree Oil is dramatically reduced when paired with Benzoyl peroxide. A 5% concentration of Benzoyl peroxide is actually relatively high and can lead to unwanted side effects. The advertisements and reviews regarding DDF Benzoyl Peroxide 5% Gel With Tea Tree Oil try to make a 5% Benzoyl peroxide concentration seem like an insignificant amount, but it is actually close to double of the ideal concentration of around 2.5%. At 5%, skin irritation in the form of itching, burning, dryness, and redness will show up for people with sensitive skin.

Does DDF Benzoyl Peroxide 5% Gel With Tea Tree Oil Work?

Although it contains two popular ingredients, the ability of DDF Benzoyl Peroxide 5% Gel With Tea Tree Oil to reduce acne breakouts is actually quite limited. One good way to estimate the effectiveness of a treatment is to read through customer product reviews and we found very mixed reports. Some people reported that this product actually worsened their acne condition, while others reported that it worked but not very dramatically. In the cases where DDF Benzoyl Peroxide 5% Gel With Tea Tree Oil was reported to help treat acne, it took weeks or months to show improvements. A short answer to the question “Does DDF Benzoyl Peroxide 5% Gel With Tea Tree Oil actually work?” is sometimes, but it requires a lot of time to make any discernable difference in skin quality.

Is DDF Benzoyl Peroxide 5% Gel With Tea Tree Oil Worth Trying?

Given the limited potential for DDF Benzoyl Peroxide 5% Gel With Tea Tree Oil to provide significant results in treating acne, it is almost shocking that they are charging around $30 for a 2 oz. tube of this product. At this cost, DDF Benzoyl Peroxide 5% Gel With Tea Tree Oil is one of the most over-priced acne treatments we have reviewed. We suggest you skip this product and find something that will clear up your skin quickly and provide lasting results.

Your Battle With Acne

If you are like a majority of people, you are dealing with acne and unwanted blemishes to some degree. Whether it is a very mild case with only the occasional whitehead or blackhead or you regularly get more severe breakouts that are impossible to hide, you will do well to find a proper acne treatment that can get rid of blemishes once and for all. If you have shopped for cosmetics very much at all, you have probably heard of the Shiseido brand of cosmetics. We reviewed the Sheseido Pureness Blemish Clearing Gel to try to get a better idea of its true potential. Often, a brand’s popularity does not coincide with its actual potential and this seems to be the case with Sheseido Pureness Blemish Clearing Gel.

Sheseido Pureness Blemish Clearing Gel Ingredients

The best clues as to a product’s effectiveness, other than looking through customer reviews and third-party review sites, lie in the ingredient listing. The main active component in Sheseido Pureness Blemish Clearing Gel is Salicylic Acid, but we could not find what its concentration is in the product. This is a very important detail because too low of a concentration leads to you seeing no results at all, while too high of a concentration can lead to unwanted side effects. At its optimum concentration, the acne treatment potential of Salicylic Acid is negligible at best. It can reduce acne breakouts by about 10-15%, which does not seem to justify the exorbitant cost of some of these skin care products. Plus, for people with sensitive skin, Salicykic Acid use can result in a an array of side effects including overly dry skin, redness, burning, itching, and irritation. Salicylic Acid is a synthetic chemical and the best acne treatment products we have seen are switching from man-made ingredients to all-natural organic ingredients. Scientists are finding the amazing potential of many natural ingredients to reduce or even completely cure acne breakouts.

Value

Sheseido Pureness Blemish Clearing Gel comes in a miniscule .5 fl. oz. bottle that retails for about $19. While it must have some acne-fighting ability, there is no evidence that hints at Sheseido Pureness Blemish Clearing Gel being worth $38 per ounce. This product seems to be grossly over-priced and when you compare it to some of the better products we have reviewed there is no competition in value. They do offer a 180-day return period during which unsatisfied customers may return their order to obtain a refund, but we suggest not wasting your time with this product to begin with. It simply does not appear to have much potential for clearing up your skin. Customer reviews tend to coincide with this point of view and a majority of them confirm our hypothesis that you are better off trying something else for your acne. One positive feature is the nice fragrance Sheseido Pureness Blemish Clearing Gel has, but that is one of the only plusses we can report. We suggest that you avoid products with synthetic ingredients and try some of the superior all-natural products on the market.

What is Maximum Strength Miracle Pore Minimizer?

Of the many acne treatments on the market, most of them use synthetic chemicals that can have negative side effects on your skin. Even some of the products that do not require a doctor’s prescription can irritate sensitive skin. There is a small, but growing, portion of the industry that has begun to develop acne treatments with natural and organic ingredients. Some of the best acne treatment products fall into this category and scientists are making very interesting discoveries of what certain natural compounds can do to treat acne and keep your skin at its best. Maximum Strength Miracle Pore Minimizer from Acnetix is a very innovative product and, at first glance, they seem to have developed a treatment with true acne-fighting potential.

What is Special About Maximum Strength Miracle Pore Minimizer?

The story of how Maximum Strength Miracle Pore Minimizer was developed demonstrates that sometimes the best solutions to our problems are right under our noses. The inventor of Maximum Strength Miracle Pore Minimizer had suffered acne for years and decided to take matters into his own hands. After extensive research on the causes of acne and the effects of certain organic compounds on the skin and body, he compiled a list of all of the potentially helpful organic ingredients. The first purchase from the local drug and grocery store cost him over $200. As he adjusted the formula over time, it became much more affordable to produce and the product was released for sale through Acnetix.

The Special Formula and How it is Different

The inventor of Maximum Strength Miracle Pore Minimizer, like many people today, had tried a variety of topical acne treatments with little or no success before developing his own product that worked so well for him. A majority of topical acne treatments utilize Benzoyl Peroxide and other synthetic chemicals that do help fight acne, but only to an insignificant extent. They generally can only reduce acne by about 10%, which is not very much. Plus, these chemicals are often associated with unwanted side effects. For these reasons, all-natural products are rapidly gaining popularity. And, the good ones are much more effective than their synthetic counterparts.

Maximum Strength Miracle Pore Minimizer Ingredients

After looking into the Maximum Strength Miracle Pore Minimizer components, we found some very effective ingredients that combine to create a very strong acne-fighting formula.

Tea Tree Oil

White Willow

Retinol A (Vitamin A)

Vitamin E

Green Tea

Walnut Shell

Flax Meal

Rosemary

MSM

Maximum Strength Miracle Pore Minimizer

The completeness of the Maximum Strength Miracle Pore Minimizer ingredient formula is quite impressive. They offer it at a very reasonable price from the official website. Ebay retailers tend to mark up the price significantly. They also offer a money-back guarantee! We suggest you give Maximum Strength Miracle Pore Minimizer a try. It may be exactly what your skin needs!

What is Mario Badescu Anti-Acne Serum?

This acne serum is designed to prevent acne breakouts, or at least to lower the frequency of breakouts, by keeping your pores clean and oil free. Acne has a variety of root causes and many of them are unavoidable. Overproduction of oils in the skin is a very common cause and is correlated to increased hormonal activity in teenagers. The active ingredients in Mario Badescu Anti-Acne Serum are designed to prevent excessive oil build-up, which clogs your pores and generates blemishes (whiteheads and blackheads).

Important Differences Among Acne Treatments

With acne being such a widespread affliction, there are hundreds of nearly identical acne treatment products out there. There is often only limited variability in the ingredients among most of these products, so it can be difficult to find the truly good ones. The standard ingredients found in most acne treatment gels generally work and are usually safe, but we have reviewed some products that work much better and more safely than others. Mario Badescu Anti-Acne Serum uses traditional ingredients that are usually effective, but only to a limited extent. This product will certainly not perform miracles for your skin, but it should help somewhat. We examined the contents of Mario Badescu Anti-Acne Serum and compared its value to other products on the market, in order to determine whether it is worth your time and money.

Mario Badescu Anti-Acne Serum Ingredients

On the Mario Badescu website you can get an accurate ingredient listing for Mario Badescu Anti-Acne Serum. It looks fairly standard and very similar to many acne treatments on the market. Here is what we found in Mario Badescu Anti-Acne Serum:

Deionized Water

Glycerine

Thyme Extract

Isopropyl Alcohol

Salicylic Acid

Triethanolamine

The main active ingredient on the list is Salicylic Acid, which is present in many topical acne treatments. However, they do not give you the specific concentration in which Salicylic Acid is present. This is a bit troublesome because there can be a variety of harmful side effects associated with use of Salicylic Acid in excessive amounts. In fact, the FDA used to require a doctor’s prescription for treating acne with Salicylic Acid. When used on sensitive skin or in too high of a concentration, Salicylic Acid can cause skin irritation and burning, along with dryness and redness. When present in too low of a concentration, it renders the acne treatment product useless and will not effectively reduce your acne. So, with Salicylic Acid, Benzoyl Peroxide, and similar ingredients, it is very important to find the proper balance between safety and effectiveness and to not incorporate too little or too much into a product formula.

The Conclusion on Mario Badescu Anti-Acne Serum

There is not enough evidence that Mario Badescu Anti-Acne Serum is a very effective acne treatment. Relying on Salicylic Acid to reduce acne makes Mario Badescu Anti-Acne Serum another common product. They are charging way too much for a very simple product that will not produce significant results, and may even come with harmful side effects.

If you are one of the countless people who suffers from mild to moderate acne breakouts, we know how difficult it can be to choose the right product to give you clear skin. There are literally hundreds, if not thousands, of products out there. The majority of these acne treatment products on the market do work, but only to a limited extent. Juliet’s Acne Gel is one product on the forefront of a sweeping trend of acne treatments that use revolutionary acne-fighting ingredients. By using existing research on organic ingredients and their effects on acne breakouts, Juliet’s Acne Gel has avoided using synthetic chemicals, such as Benzoyl Peroxide, to treat acne.

The Traditional Methods

There are two major problems with synthetic chemicals that are customarily used in acne treatments. These include ingredients like Benzoyl Peroxide and Salicylic Acid.

The first problem is the wide array of unwanted side effects that are commonly associated with using synthetic chemicals. People with overly sensitive skin have reported irritation, dryness, redness, itching, and burning in conjunction with use of these ingredients. Doctors also say there is an increased susceptibility to sunburn when using treatments that contain these types of ingredients.

The second big problem is that these chemicals do work to treat acne, but only to a very limited extent. We are talking acne blemish reduction of only about 10-15 percent in most cases, which does not seem like very much. That is what the developers of Juliet’s Acne Gel thought anyway, and they went on to develop a superior acne treatment with all-natural ingredients that have far greater potential than Benzoyl Peroxide or Salicylic Acid.

Juliet’s Acne Gel Ingredients

Judging by the meticulously selected ingredients found in Juliet’s Acne Gel, this product not only has great acne-fighting potential, but it is also likely to set the standard for acne treatments of the future. Here is a list of what we found in Juliet’s Acne Gel:

Tea Tree Oil

Aloe Vera

Green Tea

Witch Hazel

Calendula

Comfrey

Burdock

Rosemary

Vegetable Glycerin

Lemon Oil

Lavender

Thyme

Palmarosa

Chamomile

Hydronium

White Willow Bark

What is Multivitamin Acne Gel?

The word is out on using vitamins to treat acne! There is plenty of research piling up that shows what great benefits your skin can have from Vitamin A, B, and E. Especially for those of you suffering from mild to moderate cases of acne, treating your acne with a multivitamin supplement can do wonders in preventing new blemishes and minimizing future breakouts.

Traditional and Prescription Acne Treatments

Most acne treatments do not attack the root causes of acne and simply try to reduce the presence of breakouts that are already present. Benzoyl peroxide is one of the most popular ingredients used to treat acne in such a manner. However, people do not realize the potential for harmful side effects associated with its use. For one thing, Benzoyl peroxide does nothing to cure your acne, it simply dries out oils in your skin to heal up zits more quickly. Potential side effects associated with Benzoyl peroxide use include:

Dry skin

Redness

Irritation

Increased susceptibility to sunburn

Rash

Infection

The side effects are more pronounced in some people than in others, and it has even led to hospitalization for people who developed infections and failed to catch them early. Benzoyl peroxide used to be only available by prescription, but is a main ingredient in a majority of the topical acne treatments on the market.

What is in Multivitamin Acne Gel?

We closely examined this product to determine its acne-fighting potential and help you decide whether it could be right for you. We found the following ingredients in Multivitamin Acne Gel:

Vitamin B5

Vitamin B3

Vitamin C

Vitamin A

Zinc

Titanium Dioxide

Resveratrol

Green Tea Extract

Organic Aloe Vera Gel

Witch Hazel

Tea Tree Oil

Hyaluronic Acid

Does Multivitamin Acne Gel Work?

Given this set of ingredients, Multivitamin Acne Gel can fight acne more safely and effectively than any over-the-counter medication we have seen. Tea tree oil has proven to be an outstanding substitute for Benzoyl peroxide in reducing the presence and severity of breakouts. It avoids excessive dryness and harsh side effects in the skin caused by Benzoyl peroxide, while cleaning out acne causing oils and sebum. Vitamin B5 boosts the levels of Coenzyme A, which is responsible for properly metabolizing oil found in your skin. Vitamin B3 supports healthy skin through improved circulation and metabolization of proteins, sugars, and fats. Vitamin A’s (retinoids, like isotretinoin) are common acne-treating ingredients often included in prescription acne medications. Resveratrol is a newly developed acne treatment that kills all of the different skin bacteria that cause acne. Preventative measures against acne can be much more rewarding than reactive treatments.

Multivitamin Acne Gel for Your Acne

If you have been trying different treatments with mixed results, Multivitamin Acne Gel might be exactly what you need. It takes a unique and logical approach to reducing current blemishes and minimizing future breakouts. We are likely to see a surge in this product’s popularity very soon. If you are afflicted with mild to moderate acne, we suggest you try Multivitamin Acne Gel to finally clear up your skin for good.
